The Management Brain of VCF 9

Fleet-level management for the entire VCF 9 stack

Fleet Manager

Central management of multiple VCF instances with dependency-aware lifecycle.

Lifecycle Management

Zero-downtime upgrades, patches and compliance drift detection across the stack.

Identity Broker (vIDB)

SAML/OIDC federation with external IDPs, replaces vIDM.

Certificate Management

Auto-renewal 60 days before expiry, multiple CAs, external cert import.

License Manager

Unified subscription licensing, one file for the entire VCF stack.

Health & Logs

Integrated monitoring, diagnostics and log analysis (formerly Aria Operations for Logs).

Introduction

What is VCF Operations?

VCF Operations is the management heart of VCF 9. It provides Fleet Manager for multi-instance lifecycle, Identity Broker for federation, Certificate Manager for PKI and unified licensing: all through a single console.

Consolidation

Replacing SDDC Manager & Aria Suite

VCF 9 consolidates five products: SDDC Manager (lifecycle), Aria Operations (monitoring), Aria Operations for Logs, Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (ASLCM) and parts of vIDM. These are absorbed into VCF Operations with Fleet Manager as the central controller.
  • SDDC Manager -> Fleet Manager (dependency-aware)
  • Aria Operations -> built into VCF Operations
  • Aria Logs -> native log analysis
  • ASLCM -> Fleet Manager (no more separate lifecycle)
  • vIDM -> VCF Identity Broker (vIDB)

Management

Unified Lifecycle & Licensing

One plane for all Day-2 operations. Updates are separated into Fleet-level (identity, automation) and Instance-level (ESXi, vCenter, NSX) for independent lifecycle. Licensing is a single-file subscription, no more 25-hex keys per component.
  • Fleet-level vs Instance-level updates separately
  • Auto-renewing certificates across multiple CAs
  • Single-file subscription license for the entire stack
  • Native health, performance and log analytics
